Enterprise Funds Study Examining Hunger Among U.S. Seniors

Our Fill Your Tank program was launched in 2016 to address food insecurity in communities around the world. As part of the initiative, we were proud to fund Feeding America’s 2021 State of Senior Hunger in America report. Here’s what they found:

  • Of 78 million seniors aged 60 or older in the U.S., 5.5 million were food insecure in 2021. That’s an increase from 2020, rising from 6.8% to 7.1%.

  • Seniors of color experience food insecurity at disproportionately higher rates compared to both their white counterparts and the overall food insecure population.

  • By 2050, we estimate that the U.S. senior population will be 104 million. Seven million seniors could be food insecure if figures do not improve.
